OPERATION QURBAANI 2020
CSN PARTNERS WITH GEMS
The last 4 years we have had a successful and beneficial campaign with regard to our Qurbaani campaigns. We are happy to announce that CSN Operation Qurbaani for the year 2020 is undergo.
Once again, we have partnered with the Greater Edendale Muslim Society (GEMS).
GEMS runs 14 creches in the Edendale Township of Pietermaritzburg. Each consisting of about 35 children from ages 4 to 6 years.
A total of 455 children and 31 staff are fed every school day at the creches and these creches fall under our CSN School/Madressa Feeding Scheme where 2 hot meals, breakfast and lunch are provided every school day by the Caring Sisters Network

CSN feeds just about 1000 children on every school day and about 250 every day of the year. The GEMS creches will be opening on the 6th of July with Covid 19 regulations and safety procedures in place.
Some of these creches are run from mud huts and containers. The creche kids are given both Islamic and secular education. The curriculum for the creches are a combination of the IEOSA and Montessori models of teaching.
GEMS runs a beautiful Qurbani programme.
All sacrifices will be done On Eid-ul-Adha – 31 July 2020 Insha Allah.

TIME : 08h00-17h00
SHEEP PRICE INCLUDING SKINNING + SLICING AND PACKAGING : R2180.00 per sheep(40-45kg)
- Doctor Ghamiet Aysen(Founder/President of GEMS) personally slaughters, organizes, arranges, oversees the entire Qurbani programme.
- He has an open invitation for all to come join in and participate on the day
- Intention is made for each sheep as per name provided by the the donor.
- Photos and videos are taken to show the sponsors evidence of the Qurbanis.
- A quarter of the carcass is given to the teacher/muallimah and a quarter to the helper of each creche who are all Muslim. There is 1 teacher and 1 helper per creche.And if 2 classes are on the same premises then 2 teachers and 2 helpers.
- The other half of the carcass is used by GEMS to feed the kids of the Creches sometimes
Alhumdulilah 94 CSN Qurbani with Greater Edendale Muslim Society (GEMS) was successfully carried out in accordance with Shariah and your niyyah (Intention).
Your sacrifices will feed the teachers/muallimahs, helpers and the creche children of GEMS.
