THE CARING SISTERS NETWORK MANDELA DAY DESK CAMPAIGN
To commemorate the centenary of President Nelson Mandela’s birth, The Caring Sisters Network, embarked on a Mandela Day School Desk Campaign given Tata Madiba’s passion for education and children.
For learning to take place, a conducive learning environment needs to be provided for our youth.
CSN identified the urgent need for desks at The Addington Primary School.
At present learners sit at broken desks which limits writing as well as work space and as a result much valuable time is lost as scholars have to share desks for many academic tasks.
The Caring Sisters Network donated #100Desks for #100Madiba to The Addington Primary School.
A handover took place at the school on Mandela Day, The 18th of July 2018 and all 1537 children were treated to goodie bags filled with treats.
‘‘Honouring Madiba implies honouring what he taught us” said Yasiera Mahomed Suliman, chairperson of CSN, “CSN is passionate about education and we hope that this 2018 centenary year will be our catalyst to building a brighter future for our nation’s greatest asset…. our children.”
CSN has been running a ‘Readers are Leaders’ campaign for the past few years, where in which we collect and donate new as well as used books to under resourced schools.
We welcome contributions from the public as well as corporates towards our campaigns as we hope to reach new heights, in helping to empower and educate our youth.
Together we can take Action Against Poverty.
